Steering Yourself towards the Path You Choose

Steering Yourself towards the Path You Choose

Just like the story of Aladdin, you have to find your own magic lamp, your own life path to get you to your dreams and to fulfill your destiny.

Imagine this, you go through the daily grind, pay for all the mistakes that you didn't make in the first place, and are still answerable to someone else. A lot of people lead this kind of life.

To know if you're one of them, ask yourself if you align actions according to your personal beliefs. Most likely, it's not all the time that you get to do what you want.

In fact, you may find yourself joining the bandwagon, going with the flow, and still feeling that somehow, deep down inside, you're not exactly enjoying the moment.

First and foremost, you must not mistake selflessness with a lack of courage. Most of the time, we do what we must do for fear of rejection or fear of being ridiculed.

This may be part of maintaining the peace around you, but maybe there is a way you can get yourself out from this rut. (Read more)

Making Healthy Relationships Possible

Making Healthy Relationships Possible

Part of life's experience is that we encounter relationships that fade over time. We should allow these to be learning experiences. There are just some things we cannot control; things that are out of our hands. For relationships to remain healthy, we need to look at ourselves first.

We must evaluate our actions and see what caused the Relationship Problems in the first place.

We can start by evaluating ourselves. Because we can't control the actions of other people, instead of dwelling on what we cannot be in command of, we need to address what we can change.

It's vitally important for all of us to know the things that will enable us to become a friend, a colleague, and the partner that we want to become.

The first thing to assess is (Read More)

Working Toward a Happy Life

Working Toward A Happy Life

The secret to a happy life is in being optimistic; to always see the glass as half-full. The tricky part comes when we encounter roadblocks along the way.

We know that life is not always a walk in the park, so to speak. Problems come in two forms: ones that are easy to solve and ones that look nearly impossible to overcome. It's simple to say that life is sweet when we are able to overcome a difficult situation. When things start to go against us, we forget about our basic beliefs and let situations like these affect our overall outlook.

It takes a lot of practice to become a positive person, but once we do, we will live happier lives. Happiness is not a state of mind that can be achieved with just a snap of our fingers. Happiness is a choice we make and it is the attitude we need to instill in ourselves every single day.

If you need to take some time off to become the kind of person that oozes out confidence and that brings warmth to everyone, then do it. Take a step back and reevaluate your life. If the work you do makes you an angry person, then maybe it's time that you rethink your career path.

Strive for happiness with these steps: (Read more)

Being Productive Despite Your Workload

Being Productive Despite Your Workload

Your workload doesn't have to impair your productivity or keep you from meeting goals.

Individually, our goals differ from each other. We all have goals that we want to achieve, dreams that we want to attain. Reaching these may not be as easy as it looks. You may have the perfect work attitude and know how to prioritize but there are some things in life that you just cannot control.

Do you blame the things you cannot control for your failures? While this may be the easy way out, it is far from being right.

Life is made up of positive and the negative types of people. Those with a Positive Attitude tend to win all the time because they also take responsibility for their failures. The negative, on the other hand, (read more)

Managing Stress on Busy Days

Managing Stress on Busy Days

With the stress and busy lives we lead, we can't help but feel that there aren't enough hours during the day- that the 24 hours allotted to us aren't enough to cover all our priorities.

Being honest with ourselves, however, we have to admit that the overwhelming feeling of having too many things - too much work to do - is at some point, our own doing.

When it comes to work, you have to ask yourselves if it's all worth it. If your efforts bring a promise of triumph, then by all means, push yourself forward. Giving up is probably one of the biggest mistakes you can ever make when you strive to win. Every trial surpassed is a step closer to your goal.

Now, if you've made up your mind about going forward and overcoming all the hurdles, here are a few (read more)

Putting Motivation Into Perspective when Setting Business Goals

Putting Motivation Into Perspective when Setting Business Goals

The difference between achieving formal goals versus informal goals is one of motivation.

If you've ever worked in a corporate management position, you're no stranger to MBO - the concept of establishing measurable goals and their importance to any organization that practices management by objectives.

Even if you've never been in a position where you had to define specific, measurable goals, you may not realize that you do this every single day. By not consciously saying so, you are actually setting goals and you are usually better able to achieve them with far less analysis than accomplished through formal goal setting.

Quite often with formal goals, we may make progress towards our objective, but not have a clear understanding of the process required - and we often see a decline in our motivation to continue effectively.

This is perhaps most often seen in group work environments where one or two members of the group seem to "Get It", while others just sort of follow along, contributing only when asked and simply waiting for others to ensure the goal is achieved at some hazy future point.

Yet as individuals, we are often (Read more)

Coaching and Mentoring - What's the Difference?

Guiding others through life can be a daunting, but potentially rewarding task for any one up to the challenge. The person doing the guiding has a fine line to walk.

On one hand he must be strong enough to rebuke the follower if that person ignores advice.

On the other hand, he must sometimes allow the follower to stray, so that the follower can better understand why things should be done differently. The people doing the guiding generally fall into the categories of coaches and mentors.

While the two roles are similar in some ways, they are in fact very different. Before taking someone under your wing to help them progress through life, it's important to understand the difference between coaching and mentoring.

Mentoring generally involves a closer and deeper relationship than is seen in coaching. The leader and follower in this relationship are most commonly referred to as (read more)

Improving Your Quality of Life with better Time management

The chances of living completely without worries or stress for the rest of our lives are mighty remote. To make such a state of bliss possible, we would have to remove ourselves completely from reality. Not to say that there is no solution to this dilemma. Stress can never be avoided, but we can better deal with it if we know what to do when it comes.

Consider the analogy - Lao-tzu saying "The journey to a thousand miles begins with a single
step" and " it is better that we finish our tasks one at a time rather than give up altogether".

Here are a few more Personal Time Management tips to help you be more efficient when dealing with strain and (read more)

Weaving Optimism And Positive Thinking Into Success

People are often their own worst enemy, especially if they allow negative feelings to create artificial barriers to achieving their personal and professional goals.

This happens every day. For example - person A starts to talk enthusiastically about a new opportunity and immediately persons B and C become spoilsports and attempt to shoot the idea down by focusing only on the negative consequences that could possibly result.

Person A can make two choices - maintain their original positive optimism or be influenced by the aggressively pessimistic naysayers.

In many cases, a negative person will allow emotions like anger to cloud their judgment for no other reason than they take everything that happens too personally.

It's almost as if their egos won't allow them to miss an opportunity to get upset and start an argument. Coupled with a false sense of indignation they fail to realize that they are actually creating more barriers to resolving whatever the issue may have been in the first place.

In nature, opposites attract, but in real life things just (read more)
